Lantower Techridge Apartments Austin Review: Up to 8 Weeks Free, Broken Leases Accepted, and What 542 Google Reviews Actually Say
When you look at as many Austin apartments as I do, certain properties stick out for reasons listing sites won’t explain. Lantower Techridge keeps showing up in my client searches because the math is hard to ignore. A 2016 build in Pflugerville with one bedrooms starting at $918, up to eight weeks free, and screening criteria that accept broken leases and misdemeanors. As a licensed Texas REALTOR (TX #679806) who tracks pricing across 1,000+ Austin-area properties, I know that combination is rare for a property this age.
So what’s the catch?
Here’s what listing sites won’t tell you. 542 Google reviews tell two very different stories. The leasing staff gets praised constantly. The charges at move out get called a scam just as often. I’m going to break down every dollar, every screening number, and every pattern hiding in those reviews so you can decide whether this property is worth your application fee.
Quick Facts: Lantower Techridge

| Walk Score | 30 (car dependent) |
The 3.9 Google rating looks decent on the surface. But dig into those 542 reviews and a pattern jumps out: 109 reviews specifically praise the staff, and 20+ warn about getting hit with big charges when they moved out. That says a lot about how this property runs during your lease versus what happens when you try to leave. I’ll break that down below.
Who This Property Works For
You have a broken lease or misdemeanor on your record. Lantower Techridge is one of the few 2016-built properties in the Austin area that accepts broken leases and misdemeanors. Most properties built after 2015 auto-decline both. If your broken lease is two or more years old and your credit is above 580, this property is worth a conversation. At this price point, your other options for screening flexibility in the Austin area are mostly 1990s and 2000s builds.
You want a washer and dryer in your unit without paying extra. Full-size, in-unit W/D is included in every floor plan here. That’s not a given at this price range. Plenty of communities in Pflugerville still charge $50–$75/month for W/D rental or only offer connections. The included W/D saves you $600–$900 a year compared to those properties.
You need a ground floor unit with a fenced yard for your dog. Some of the first floor units come with private fenced yards, and there’s no pet weight limit. If you have a large breed that gets declined at properties with 50 or 75 pound caps, that combination matters. The dog park and grooming station are nice bonuses, too.
You’re commuting to the Tech Ridge corridor or north on I-35. The location puts you close to employers along Parmer Lane, the Amazon distribution center in Pflugerville, and Round Rock. Downtown Austin is 22 minutes off-peak but can hit 50 during rush hour, so if your commute is north, this location saves you money over anything closer in.
Who Should Skip This Property
You care about what happens when you move out. This is the single biggest red flag at Lantower Techridge. Over 20 Google reviews specifically call out excessive charges at move out, including residents who say they left their unit clean and still lost their entire $500 deposit plus got hit with additional fees. If you’re budget-conscious and can’t afford a surprise $500–$800 bill when your lease ends, that pattern should concern you.
You’re sensitive to noise. Multiple reviews mention pool noise that carries into units even with windows closed. Upstairs neighbors, loud motorcycles in the parking areas, and weekend activity near the pool show up over and over on Google and ApartmentRatings. One person on ApartmentRatings mentioned loud plumbing pipes starting at 5am every morning, and maintenance never actually fixed it. Garden style construction with three stories means sound travels, and quiet hours don’t really get enforced.
You need walkability. This isn’t it. Walk Score is 30. You need a car for everything. The nearest H-E-B is about two miles away, and there’s nothing worth walking to for food or shopping.

Location Deep Dive
What’s Actually Nearby
Lantower Techridge sits on The Lakes Blvd in Pflugerville, just west of I-35 near the Tech Ridge retail area. Day to day, you’re looking at:
- H-E-B (Pflugerville): 2.1 miles, 6 minute drive
- Walmart Supercenter: 2.4 miles, 7 minutes
- Target (Tech Ridge): 1.8 miles, 5 minutes
- Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park: 2.9 miles, 5 minute drive. Good trail system for running and mountain biking.
- Howard MetroRail Station: 3.6 miles, 7 minute drive. This connects you to the Red Line into downtown, but you’re driving to the station.
- Lakes at Techridge shopping: 0.4 miles, 6 minute walk. Small retail strip right next to the property.
There’s no real walkable dining or nightlife. This is a car dependent location. Restaurants are mostly along I-35 and Parmer Lane, a 5–10 minute drive.
Commute Math
| Destination | Off-Peak | Rush Hour |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Parmer Campus | 12 min (5 mi) | 18–25 min |
| The Domain | 15 min (7 mi) | 20–30 min |
| Downtown Austin | 22 min (14 mi) | 35–50 min |
| Amazon Pflugerville (fulfillment) | 10 min (4 mi) | 12–15 min |
| Round Rock (Dell/Samsung corridor) | 15 min (8 mi) | 20–25 min |
| Austin-Bergstrom Airport | 30 min (24 mi) | 40–55 min |
The commute story is simple. If you work north of the river, this location is solid. If you work downtown or south, you’re looking at 35–50 minutes each way during rush hour on I-35, and that’s on a good day.
The Neighborhood
Pflugerville’s Tech Ridge area is suburban. If you want the full picture of what the north Austin suburbs offer, I’ve written a separate guide. But the short version: it’s not trendy and nobody is going to call it exciting. It is functional, though. Two H-E-Bs within a short drive, big box retail nearby, and you can handle most daily errands within a 10 minute drive. The area is growing, and construction is common. This is Pflugerville ISD territory: Northwest Elementary, Westview Middle, and Connally High School cover this area (all rated 2/10 on GreatSchools).

Rents are starting prices as of August 2026 and vary by unit, floor, and lease term. Apartments.com currently shows up to 8 weeks free, but the exact concession depends on your unit and lease length. I’ve shown both 6 and 8 week scenarios so you can see the range.
Net Effective Rent: The Math
I’ll use the 1BR A2P plan at $951/month since it’s one of the most popular layouts here. Apartments.com currently lists up to 8 weeks free, but the exact amount depends on the unit and lease term. I’ll show both scenarios.
6 weeks free (daily multiplier method):
- Lease term: 12 months = 365 days
- Free rent: 6 weeks = 42 days
- Multiplier: (365 − 42) ÷ 365 = 0.8849
- Net effective: $951 × 0.8849 = $842/month
- Monthly savings: $109/month
8 weeks free (daily multiplier method):
- Lease term: 12 months = 365 days
- Free rent: 8 weeks = 56 days
- Multiplier: (365 − 56) ÷ 365 = 0.8466
- Net effective: $951 × 0.8466 = $805/month
- Monthly savings: $146/month
If you land the full 8 weeks, that’s $805 net effective for a 625 square foot one bedroom in a 2016 build. Even at 6 weeks, $842 is competitive for the Tech Ridge area.
But remember: you qualify based on the base rent of $951, not the net effective. At the top end of 3x, that means you need $2,853/month gross ($34,236/year, about $16.46/hour full time). At 2.5x, you’d need $2,378/month ($28,530/year, about $13.72/hour). Ask the property which multiplier they use before you apply.
Fee Breakdown
Required fees (everyone pays):
| Fee | Amount | When |
|---|---|---|
| Application fee | $75/person | At application |
| Administrative fee | $150 | At move-in |
| Security deposit | $500 (refundable) | At move-in |
Optional fees:
| Fee | Amount | When |
|---|---|---|
| Covered parking (carport) | $40/mo | Monthly |
| Detached garage | $125/mo | Monthly |
| Pet deposit (dog or cat) | $300–$500 | At move-in |
| Pet rent | $25/mo per pet | Monthly |
Pest control, valet trash, smart home services, and package services are all included in your base rent. No extra charges for those.
True Monthly Cost Scenario
Here’s what a typical renter actually pays. Say you’re in the 1BR A2P ($951), you have one dog, and you want a covered parking spot:
| Item | Monthly Cost |
|---|---|
| Base rent | $951 |
| Pet rent (1 dog) | $25 |
| Covered parking | $40 |
| True monthly cost | $1,016 |
The gap between the advertised $951 and what you’re actually paying is $65/month, or $780/year. That’s not terrible compared to some Austin properties where mandatory fees push the gap to $150+. But it’s still money you need to plan for.
Upfront costs for this scenario:
- Application fee: $75
- Admin fee: $150
- Security deposit: $500
- Pet deposit: $300–$500
- First month’s rent: $951
- Total upfront: $1,976–$2,176

Screening Criteria
Lantower Techridge is managed by Greystar, and their screening criteria say they accept broken leases, misdemeanors, and foreclosures. That’s notable for a property built in 2016. Most communities this age in the Austin market decline all three automatically.
Income Requirement
Greystar’s qualification paperwork shows income requirements range from 2.5x to 3x rent depending on the property. Lantower Techridge doesn’t say which one they use. Here’s what both look like across floor plans:
| Plan | Base Rent | Income at 2.5x | Income at 3x | Hourly at 2.5x | Hourly at 3x |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A1x (1BR) | $918 | $2,295/mo | $2,754/mo | $13.24 | $15.89 |
| A2P (1BR) | $951 | $2,378/mo | $2,853/mo | $13.72 | $16.46 |
| A3 (1BR) | $1,070 | $2,675/mo | $3,210/mo | $15.43 | $18.52 |
| B1 (2BR) | $1,390 | $3,475/mo | $4,170/mo | $20.05 | $24.06 |
If the property uses 2.5x, you can qualify for a one bedroom here earning around $13–$14/hour. At 3x, you’d need $16–$17/hour. Ask before you apply. Two incomes on a two bedroom make it workable either way.
Credit Expectations
Lantower Techridge doesn’t publish a credit score minimum. But they accept broken leases and misdemeanors, so they’re not running a tight ship on screening. Here’s what I’d expect:
- 600+ credit: Likely smooth approval with standard $500 deposit
- 550–599 credit: Possible approval with higher deposit or conditions
- Below 550: Tougher. May need a third-party guarantee service, which would drop the income requirement to roughly 2.5x rent
The fact that they accept broken leases and misdemeanors tells me this isn’t a hard-line screening property. But credit below 550 combined with a recent broken lease will still narrow your options even here.
What Gets You Declined
Based on what Greystar publishes about their screening:
- Active property debt (money owed to a previous landlord) with no third-party guarantee
- Recent eviction judgment (under 2 years) without other strong points in your application
- Sex offenses on the registry
- Fraudulent documents on the application
- Income below the multiplier with no co-applicant or guarantee service
Application Process
- Apply online through the property’s portal. $75 per person, non-refundable.
- They run your application through a screening company that checks credit, rental history, criminal background, and income.
- Decision typically comes within 1–3 business days. If you’re conditionally approved, you might need a bigger deposit.
- Move in once deposit and admin fees are paid.
Here’s what separates working with a locator from applying blind: I can tell you whether your income, credit, and rental history will pass Lantower Techridge’s screening before you spend $75 finding out. If this property looks tight for your situation, I know which nearby communities in Pflugerville have more flexibility.

What Residents Like
The leasing team gets consistent praise, and specific names keep appearing. Gigi shows up in 20+ reviews for being helpful from application through getting moved in. Adi (also spelled Ady) gets the same kind of love in 15+ reviews. Lacie, Taylor, and Leticia also get called out positively. On the maintenance side, Adolfo Castillo and Roberto both get praised by name for fast, thorough work. When you see the same names praised in review after review over a full year, that’s not a fluke. The on-site team here is a genuine strength.
Maintenance during your lease? Generally solid. Most residents say requests get handled within a day or two. After two or three pest treatment requests, one person’s cockroach problem was resolved. So the experience while you’re actually living here is good for most people.
What Residents Don’t Like
The experience when you leave is where this property loses people. Over 20 reviews call out charges at move out as excessive, unfair, or unexplained. Multiple residents say they left their apartment clean and still lost their full $500 deposit. Some got charged $500+ on top of their deposit. Words like “scammed,” “rip-off,” and “greedy” keep showing up in the reviews. This isn’t a handful of isolated complaints. It’s a pattern that’s been going on for over a year.
Pest issues are the other problem. Roaches show up in 8+ Google reviews, and people on ApartmentRatings found hornet nests in their patios and bedroom windows from day one. One person on ApartmentRatings was told they’d have to break their lease if they wanted a different unit after telling management about roaches on day one. On other review sites, people say it took two or three requests before pest problems got handled. Garden style construction with ground floor fenced yards gives bugs more ways to get in than a sealed concrete building.
Noise isn’t limited to the pool, either. One person on ApartmentRatings has loud plumbing pipes starting at 5am every morning, never fixed after multiple requests. That’s on top of the upstairs neighbor noise and the pool area complaints on Google.
Management Response Pattern
Management responds to nearly every review, positive and negative. But the responses all read the same. Negative reviews get redirected to Techridge@lantowerliving.com instead of actually dealing with the problem in public. Nothing in the reviews suggests the complaints about charges when you leave have changed anything.
The Uncomfortable Truth
No listing site will write this section. That’s the whole point.
I’m not trying to kill the deal. I want you to sign a lease with your eyes open.
The Move-Out Charges Are a Real Problem
This is the single biggest issue at Lantower Techridge. And it’s not just Google. The same complaints show up on ApartmentRatings, ForRent, and the BBB too. People say they left their units clean and still got billed $400–$800+ in cleaning, carpet, and damage charges. One person got charged $164 for cleaning, $124 for carpet cleaning, and $159 for painting after a unit transfer within the same property. One ForRent reviewer put it bluntly: they got charged for damage that was already written up on their move in inspection. The BBB gives the property an F rating with 3 unresolved complaints. The business didn’t respond to any of them. If you move in here, document everything at the start and end of your lease with photos and video. That’s your only protection.
Pest Issues Are Broader Than Cockroaches
Roach complaints show up on both Google and ApartmentRatings going back over a year. But it’s not just roaches. People on ApartmentRatings moved in to find hornet nests in their patios and bedroom windows. Pest control is included in rent and maintenance does handle it, but it can take two or three requests before you see results. The garden style construction with ground floor yards means bugs have more ways to get in than they would in a concrete building.
The Construction Was Budget-Grade From Day One
Even in 2016, when the building was brand new, Yelp reviewers noted “cheap-ish options for things like doors and carpet.” This isn’t just a building aging. The materials were entry-level from the start. ApartmentRatings reviewers describe dishwashers that break down every two uses, plumbing that makes loud noises at 5am, and appliance issues that maintenance marks as “fixed” without actually resolving. For a property charging $918+ per month, you’re getting 2016 construction that was built to a budget standard, not a quality one.
Security Has Gaps
Several reviews mention car break-ins (smashed windows), stolen packages, and security cameras that don’t seem to help much. The property has a fenced perimeter, but people in the past year describe cars getting broken into and packages disappearing, and management not doing much about it. One person had their car window smashed twice with no accountability from the property.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Lantower Techridge accept broken leases?
Yes. Their screening criteria say they accept broken leases. Your chances go up a lot if the broken lease is two or more years old and your credit is 580+. If you have active property debt from the broken lease, you’ll likely need a lease guarantee service. For more on how this works, check out my guide to apartments that accept broken leases in Austin.
What is the income requirement at Lantower Techridge?
Greystar properties typically require 2.5x to 3x monthly rent in gross income. Lantower Techridge doesn’t publish which multiplier they use, so ask when you apply. At 2.5x, the most affordable one bedroom ($918) needs about $2,295/month or $13.24/hour. At 3x, you’d need $2,754/month or $15.89/hour. Co-applicant incomes can be combined.
Does Lantower Techridge accept felonies?
Their published screening info only says they accept misdemeanors, broken leases, and foreclosures. Felonies aren’t mentioned either way, which usually means they handle it case by case. Got a non-violent felony that’s five or more years old? Worth asking. If you want me to check before you apply, fill out my intake form.
How much is the pet deposit at Lantower Techridge?
$300–$500 per pet upfront, plus $25/month pet rent per pet. Max two pets (one dog, one cat). No weight limit, but aggressive breeds are restricted.
Is Lantower Techridge in Austin or Pflugerville?
The mailing address is Pflugerville, TX 78660. Some listing sites show it under Austin. It’s within the Pflugerville Independent School District, and the property sits just west of I-35 near the Tech Ridge retail area. You get Pflugerville services, not Austin.
What’s included in rent at Lantower Techridge?
In-unit washer and dryer, valet trash pickup, pest control, smart home technology (keyless entry, digital thermostat), and package services. Utilities (electric, water, gas, internet) are not included.
How far is Lantower Techridge from downtown Austin?
About 14 miles. On a clear road, 22 minutes. During rush hour on I-35, expect 35–50 minutes. The Howard MetroRail station is 3.6 miles away if you want to take the Red Line, but you’re driving to the station.
What are the charges like when you leave Lantower Techridge?
This is the property’s most common complaint. Over 20 Google reviews describe getting hit with cleaning, carpet, and painting fees totaling $400–$800+ even when residents say they left the apartment clean. Document your unit’s condition with photos and video at both the start and end of your lease.
The Bottom Line
Lantower Techridge gives you a 2016 build with in-unit W/D, no pet weight limit, and screening that takes broken leases and misdemeanors. At $918 starting for a one bedroom and as low as $777 net effective if you land the full 8 weeks free, the price is competitive for a property this age in Pflugerville. The leasing staff is genuinely good: Gigi, Adi, Lacie, and the maintenance team (Adolfo, Roberto) get praised by name across dozens of reviews spanning the last year plus.
Here’s the trade-off, though. Charges at move out keep showing up in reviews. Over 20 people have flagged it, and nothing has changed. That doesn’t mean it’ll happen to you. But it means you should protect yourself.
This property makes sense if:
- You have a broken lease or misdemeanor and need a newer build that won’t auto-decline you
- You want W/D in your unit without paying extra and have a large dog that gets rejected at properties with weight limits
- You work north of the river and want Pflugerville pricing with 2016 construction quality
- You’re OK documenting everything at the start and end of your lease to protect your deposit
This property doesn’t make sense if:
- You need walkability to restaurants, grocery, or transit
- Noise sensitivity is a dealbreaker (pool noise, garden style sound transfer)
- You can’t handle a potential $500–$800 charge at move out if their assessment of your unit differs from yours
- You want downtown Austin access without a long commute
My verdict: Lantower Techridge is one of the better options in Pflugerville for renters who need screening flexibility and want something built in the last decade. The price is right, the staff is strong, and the amenities hold up. Just go in with your eyes open about what happens when your lease ends and protect yourself with documentation from day one.
